Speaker bio:  Motolani Ogunsanya, DPh, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and a faculty at the TSET Health Promotion Research Center, Stephenson Cancer Center in Oklahoma. Her research focuses on health economics and outcomes research using mixed methodologies and primarily involves understanding health behaviors among underserved, minority groups and examining quality of life through theoretical frameworks and large-scale retrospective database analyses. She is currently developing a mHealth platform for Black prostate cancer survivors.

This presentation will explore the lived experiences of ethnically diverse Black prostate cancer survivors through the lens of grounded theory methodology. It will detail their journey from diagnosis through survivorship, highlighting challenges, coping strategies, and the significance of community engagement. Attendees will gain insights into the unique dimensions of their experiences, underscored by real-life stories and research findings, and how these insights can contribute to enhancing their quality of life. Will also include a presentation on grounded theory: key features, applications, coding process, criticisms, and other considerations.
