The Sooner Survey Center offers personnel and information technology infrastructure to support all stages of complex health and program evaluation surveys. This includes support for survey design, sampling plan, deployment, data collection, data analysis and interpretation, and reporting. The Center contains ten computerized calling stations that run WinCati Mixed Mode software, which allows for the integration of phone-based and web-based surveys, data entry, sampling and selection of phone numbers, and participant tracking. Data are stored on a PHI-secure server housed in the OUHSC Data Hosting Center.
The MyHealth health information exchange includes de-identified, longitudinal records for more than 4 million patients in Oklahoma and surrounding states. These data are continually updated with data extracted from diverse electronic health records and claims data systems.
The OU-Medicine Clinical Data Warehouse is a secure database with over 1.2 million unique patients and more than 30 million unique clinic visits. To ensure that the Warehouse is continually updated with new records, the BERD core supports infrastructure to query, extract, clean, and validate data from multiple electronic medical records systems for the Warehouse.
Cohort registries maintained by the Clinical Resources Core provide clinical, demographic, therapeutic, and experimental data for longitudinal and cross-sectional registries of patients and unaffected controls.
REDCap provides researchers with a professionally managed, secure, web-based, HIPAA-compliant environment for building and managing web-based projects. It was developed by Vanderbilt University and funded by NIH so that researchers can do quality research securely and effectively. REDCap has a fast and flexible set-up for data entry forms and surveys. You also control access to all of your projects.
The Training Unit of the Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD) Key Component Activity of the Oklahoma Shared Clinical and Translational Resources (OSCTR) hosts an R Short Course. R is a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. It is free and compiles with and runs on various UNIX platforms, Windows, and MacOS. R can be extended via user-contributed packages. Packages are available through the CRAN family of internet sites, covering an extensive range of modern statistics (https://www.r-project.org/).
